gideons, howling dervishes

carl pack sez that this weekend's gideons performance at fred's fest will feature the return to the fold of original drummer terry valderas vernixx (whom i misidentified in the wreck room book as "vernon," guh), now a dj in oklahoma. back in the '80s, terry helped bring rave culcha to the fort as a member of e.s.p., was the original drummer in the toadies, and later played in parasite lost with darryl wood (confusatron) and greg terhune (eden automatic, rawly punt). "we'll probably get together once before the show and go over some shit," said carl. "it'll be good to hear the shit with the drummer we wrote those songs around." also on the card: the howling dervishes, which carl says was gideon's gtrist chuck rose's first band, out of dallas. yet another reason, as if any more were needed, to be at fonky fred's this sunday.
