eric mcfadden trio, barber mack, honky, btd/ppt, me-thinks, latin express
a veritable cornucopia of events in what has to be the best week of music the fort has seen in awhile. dig:
tonight, the eric mcfadden trio plays their second night at fonky fred's (or, in the event of rain, at the wreck room, in which case the jamcats get pre-empted and i get to wait until sunday to try out my dtr's b-f's telecaster).
tomorrow night, barber mack bring their jazzified brand of reggae to el wreck, although not the beatles revolver show that was planned; rehearsals have proven problematic and that'll have to wait for another day. or, if you're into the harder stuff, go check out honky's dixie-fried metal at fonky fred's.
friday night, it's an eclectic all-idol-records bill with local faves black tie dynasty and their soulful labelmates ppt, whom it's good to see finally getting their shot on the wreck room stage.
saturday is cinco de mayo, and the mighty me-thinks are playing their "cinco de mayo / drinko de mayo / our shit got stolen and probably our last show at the wreck room" show (if you need to be told where, you should probably get someone to drive you) along with the fellow americans and panther city bandits, and late add shaolin death squad. earlier in the day, latin express a.k.a. "the family that plays together" be's at central market for the fw weekly's cinco de mayo celebration.
and saturday and sunday are, of course, fred's fest.
whew!
