This isn't Nils waxing, this is Nils being a solo hog, and Roy having the sense and the manners to not play over Nils masturbation.
Call it what you like. All I know is that I was 13 and I'd just watched 45 minutes of Roy playing in a variety of contexts that impressed me some but moved me not at all. Watching Nils going off and looking like he was having a blast made me want to do what he was doing. These days I can't stand to listen to anybody solo at that length, but, um, 40 years ago, it did its job. Haven't gotten over it yet.
