Slaughter House Five is perhaps one of the most overrated books of all time. Boy the hype around that stupid book. Vonnegut was a hack...IMOP.

No offense John, but I have to respectfully disagree. Slaughterhouse's appeal stems mainly from both its unique literary presentation, and it's rarity as an eyewitness account to one of the most heinous acts of militaristic violence ever committed against a civilian population. Whether it is good or bad is strictly a matter of opinion, but like it or not, it's a monument to humanist thought and American literature. "Mother Night", and "Breakfast of Champions" are brilliant in their own right. To label Vonnegut as a hack is just silly. But, opinions are like assholes: We all have one and they all stink..."So it goes."
