kidlit

because i am a wonk, i was interested to see this list of the top 150 children's books of all time. because i suppose i am old-fashioned, i am mystified that go ask alice is among 'em. i mean, it's not last exit to brooklyn, but still...

go ask alice? hmmmm... not to sound like a jerk, but i'm pretty much convinced that book is 100% total bullshit and simply not true. i've read it several times in the past and it just reminds me of some kinda lameass gov't sponsored 1950s boogie man drug propaganda intended to scare the hell out of folks instead of presenting reliable facts. whatever... i could be wrong, but the writing just seems too "perfect" to be authentic.

also interesting to see "the catcher in the rye" (which i _got in trouble_ for reading in 7th grade, back when nixon was in the white house and my dtr was assigned to read as a high schooler around the cleavage of the millennia).
