hunger 2
when i was really stoopid
i usedta spend nine dollars
a payday on groceries
and $60 on alcohol
later, my first wife 'n' i
ate a shitload of beans
'n' cornbread in memphis:
it's a complimentary protein
what i learned over the yrs:
what you eat is important
especially if you intend
to stick around for awhile

Amen to bread 'n' beans! Being broke led me to my love of black beans and brown rice / corn tortillas. Some garlic, onions, jalepenos, olive oil combined with rice and beans and I was set.
During those lean years I also learned that I love simplicity and instead of seeking more I found that I was inspired to get rid of everything superfilous in my life. I decided that as I got more money I would only add things that held meaning for me. I learned to hate the frivilous (not those who are frivilous but you get my meaning).
