gallucci

these guys sound like the me-thinks of orstralia, and they're named after the guy that produced funhouse. best of all, they're playing a show of stooges covers with mike watt, who's down under this week playing with the actual stooges. how fuckin' cool is _that_?!?!?

yeah, good mr. watt most def LOVES his stooges. he's in what, like SIX stooges bands? gotta love the man in the van. gotts love the ig and the aeshton's too!

just being curious here, but would the namesake of the band and the funhouse producer be the same gallucci that played with the kingsmen? i really gotta get more up on my pre-psych garage band history.

aaahhhh... think the kingsmen cat was dan gallucci.

on another note, i read yr. spiel with ron asheton and i liked it a lot. well, i got through parts 1 & 2 on the bus yesterday and i'm gonna tackle part 3 today. you're right though, the guy tells a great tale. hands down my fav part of the expanded version of "plese kill me" is his spiel in the appendix section about how he used to visit larry fine (the GREATEST stooge and philltown's GREATEST hometown celeb of all time) in the rest home he spent the last years of his life in. it made me kinda sad to hear larry say that the only three people who ever came to see him were moe, ed asner, and ron asheton. it's fucked up to realize that folks these days don't have the same commitment to their elderly family members that previous generations and some foreign cultures do.

yeah, from that book, the int, and hangin' out w/ron and watt at sxsw a few yrs ago, the overwhelming impression i got of mrs. asheton's first son is that he's a _mensch_.
