yet more gimpage

prac'ed gtr yesterday and discovered that it is poss for me to play and trigger stomboxes w/o using right foot while sitting on a stool (altho body position in relation to pedals becomes more important. shortened strap to where it now hangs like a bib right under my head. wtf. after a half hour or so my left hand started to hurt -- from lack of play action (no jam 2 wks ago and only played about half the night last week) or diff muscle movement from using crutches? we'll see.

also tried taking a "walk" to the mailbox a few blocks away. made it about halfway there -- fatigue. on the way back, became hyperaware of approaching traffic, and when neighbor dog barked, started working out strategies for thumping him over the head with a crutch before he could take a bite out of my ass.

I love the 76107 nieghborhood but we have the largest number of dogbites of any area code in Tarrant County. Saw it on the news a couple years ago. And these aren't strays .... they are dogs with identifiable owners and these owners do not keep control over thier dogs.

Many hillbillies still in 76107 hood. One time I was out walking and a guy's dog came running right at me with teeth showing and in full bark mode. There was nowhere to run so I was ready to kick the shit out of this (big ass) dog. The dog stopped just short of me and stood there growling at me. I told the guy to get his dog away from me and unbelievably, he got completely pissed at me as if I was attacking his poor dog. How could I have the gumption to walk down his street and defend myself against his dog which was not on a leash.

Frickin' Rednecks .....

wowzers...i never woulda guessed that about arlington hts. i mean, i usedta live in, um, benbrook (the "my unemployed b-f lives on my mom's couch" capital o' north texas), and never had any dog probs while walking the streets out there.

earlier this yr, there was an interval when we weren't getting our mail delivered because our neighbor's dogs are prone to jumping the fence and threatening the mail carriers. sheesh.

smart idea, but prolly limited in its utility.

yet another reason why i am a cat (vice dog) man.

other reason: the f*cking barking. fella who rents the li'l house behind us has a dog. she's a sweetie, but since he's been outta town, she's been barking up a storm, day 'n' night. i guess cats can be as noisome and annoying, but my guys don't have balls and don't go outside, so no yowling from the back fence for them. they have more fun when they're outside, but they live longer when they're inside, and i'm the one w/the opposable thumb.

Dog attacks are freakin scary. Two years ago I was mauled by my then boyfriend's pit mix male dog that freaked out one day when I was alone in the house because the stray female we took in was in heat (the man would cry at the thought of taking his dog to get neutered- my warnings were disregarded)and I startled him coming out of the kitchen and he lunged at me: tore into my leg, side, bit my breast and face I fought for the door, I get it open he runs after the female he took down the nieghbor outside and fire captain when they were called....this dog used to lick my feet. If I would have fell, my neck would have been ripped out. I fed him an hour before this happened. The female had nine pups. Instincts man animals are animals. Love for animals is great but people are more important so know kind of animal you got and take care of it damn it. But you know if I can take on a dog like that I can take anything.

maybe pits can be sweet-natured, but they're also _a bear trap w/legs_ -- one reason i was unhappy when there were _five_ in the house where my granddtr lives and wasn't unhappy when they went away, even tho most of 'em wound up being euthanized at the pound, 'cos ppl (esp. li'l ones) trump animals anytime. along w/being real about what kind of animal you have, ppl should also be real about how many they can afford to keep / care for. just my opinion.

i can't understand ppl who refuse to neuter their animals on "humanitarian" grounds.

and surviving an attack like that is def something folks are _not lining up for. glad you didn't let it make you afraid.

people up the block from me (REAL aloof neo-boho types with much $$$
and little regard for others) let
their mutt roam the streets day and night with no leash. it's no pit (some kinda mutt mix) but gets REAL testy and snappy when you try and walk past it. i usually see it running on other people's property when i'm walking to the bus at 5 am (on the OTHER side of a MAJOR intersection nonetheless!)

i'm just waiting for the day when one of two things happens:

#1 - i hear about this beast gnawing on one of the kids from the DEAF school across the street from my pad.

#2 - someone runs over the poorly supervised pooch and the owners sue.

i'm pretty convinced that about 50% of the world's pet owners SHOULDN'T own pets. it's not a toy and it's not a novelty, it's a living breathing creature and a damn big responsibility (i sound like someone's dad.) you best believe that i wouldn't have 7 cats in my pad if i knew i could't take care of 'em and give 'me all they need. some peeeps can't even take care o' themselves and then go out and buy pets... sheesh!
