listening

...to zanzibar snails' journey into amazing caves, nels cline's coward, and the rhino reish of the first stooge alb, which has a second disc of extra shit that actually improves on the 'riginal (unlike funhouse, because how can you improve on perfection?). the john cale mixes are at least interesting (although mixing the handclaps louder than the gtr is just perverse; perhaps it has something to do with the reaction to white light/white heat?), and the "full" versions of "no fun" and "ann" trump the released ones; the latter song in particular would have been one of the strongest songs on the album, not the weakest, had this versh been released back in '69.

Coward is the most incredible guitar album I've heard in years.
