say it ain't so, iggy
i still maintain that the weirdness was not awful. this, however, is. redeeming quality: even at 61, with incipient beergut, jim can still scare the ever-lovin' bejeezus out of the squares. and the asheton boys are making bank. bless him.
ADDENDUM: here's RON's justification from the detroit free press. madonna -- protest kid? i dunno. i always liked her in a league of our own, tho.

the version of burning up is a little better. ig even got to slip in a "motherfucker" which i bet won't make it to air in the delayed broadcast.
ended up seeing this live - by a chance last minute "turn to channel _____" tipoff from a pal - and i gotta say, it found it darn entertaining.
definitely not great, but i like seeing bands out of their element and stirring things up (the freaking out the squares that you spoke of..)
all i can think is maybe it was some peeps' first chance to see the stooges wail. maybe - for good or bad - some minds were blown. gotta think positive else the whole thing might rub me the wrong way.
i've read that some take it as the slight that the stooges were never "inducted." as far as i'm concerned, they'll always be too cool for some weird frat like the hall o' fame anyhoo.
think i'd be more bummed if they made it in..
and i'm w/ you - "the weirdness" ain't nearly as lousy as the press has stated. all of the reviewers that trashed it remind me of the same hipster hacks who trashed them their first time around - only to be first in line lay claim to "discovering" their genius decades later.
god bless them stooges..
