former minor threat gtrist lyle preslar just finished his law degree at rutgers school of law - newark. (chasing robert quine, perhaps?) not to be outdone, queen gtrist brian may just completed his ph.d thesis in astrophysics and will receive his degree from imperial college, london, next may if it didn't suck. he co-authored the book bang! the complete history of the universe, published last year. who'd a thunk it?

right
my fave advanced-degreed muso of all time: sterling morrison, who was working on his master's in english (and shooting lotsa hoops) while the velvet underground was recording _loaded_ and playing a summer-long gig at max's kansas city back in '70.
of course, tom morello got _his_ ph.d _before_ starting his rockaroll career, but then again, he was also in audioslave, which kinda negates the premise of this post.
