more les rallizes denudes

an elusive crew, this. reading julian cope's review of their flightless bird alb, f'rinstance, one wonders, "howthefuck can i get ahold of this?" even mighty forced exposure only has a couple of their releases. (teague: "you've got to know freaks." or maybe know a couple of those mp3 download sites and have the patience/time to work with 'em, which i don't.)

while continuing to scorch my brainpan with the stuff i got from jon, i found a pretty good rant on les rallizes on the blogosphere, and another that actually has a link to an mp3 track i hadn't heard before. i love all this japanese psych not just because it legitimizes playing noisy, sloppy, distorted gtr (was thinking about this the other night as i tried to invoke sonny sharrock over darrin's dropped-D groove, then imitated a riffing horn section while he went off), but because it takes the noise side of the early velvets and mc5 to, um, the next level. must find more.

Yeah, man - a pretty good rant!

I ranted that rant... And I keep meaning to either pull it or update it, but can't seem to get around to doing either, while it meanwhile continues to bring me more hits than anything else I've ever done

The idea was to catch my first thoughts and feelings on hearing that music for the first time, one spectacularly unhinged winter in Seattle, amazed that this band which seemed to only exist in legend could be had for the limewire perseverance to dig it up... Now I'm finding rad and rare sounds every third day or so without half trying, just by watching the blogs, which dates the Rallizes rant in some ways...

But not in others, because what I felt was real and has to stand

People seem to dig it, so thanks for digging it...
