studio 817, stoogeaphilia, trucker jams

caught the jesse sierra hernandez-curated gallery night show at velton hayworth's studio 817 last night. i got to see a buncha ppl i hadn't seen in a long time, including steedo the frontman from shotgun messenger, the band formerly known as mullet malicia and a few other things (it's hard to keep up with all the damn name changes among these haltom city-riverside bands). he said they have a show at the aardvark on april 7th. phil hemsley's representational work was best in show to our jaded eyes, but there were a coupla interesting new pieces from the pussyhouse propaganda posse, and velton's got a real nice space there.

the stoogeband practiced tonight for the first time in a month or so and actually got three new/old toons down (not by the stooges but coming from the same spirit/era). we're gonna try and prac again before our april 25th wreck room extravaganza (assuming that date doesn't slip again).

ratsamy from barrel delux and the asian media crew stopped by the shed to check it out, along with trucker jon from the me-thinks / barrel delux / spanish for panther / one fingered fist and probably a few more i'm forgetting. looks like trucker's going to be making an appearance at el wreck with the jamcats this wednesday night, and we're just as pleased as punch to have him.
