Love me some Mermiad Avenue. I heard a few years ago that Billy Bragg and Wilco did not leave these sessions as the best of friends. I think that tension though was a good thing, creatively speaking. I love the Billy Bragg songs like Walt Whitman's Niece and Unwelcome Guest, but I also love the Wilco songs like California Stars and Hestitating Beauty. I don't think this album would have been the masterpiece it is if it were a Billy Bragg album or a Wilco album. The collaboration gives it the spark it needed.

And Tom Waits, what more is there to say? I am still digging on Orphans.

I haven't listened to Monk in a while, but maybe it is time to revisit Mr. T.

"hesitating beauty" - just about as good as it gets.
