a blast from the past: watching rob marruffo's vid of lee 'n' carl's invitational jam from 7.28.1999. the players: rob and jam-meister lee allen; bass and voxxx; lee's bro. lance allen, gtr; dave karnes and damien stewart, drums; cary blackwell and carl pack, voxxx; unknown trumpet dude; semi-inaudible keyboard dude. interesting to observe the longevity of some of the repertoire ("chameleon," a beastie boys song i don't know the name of, "freaky styley," "la fiesta," "stone cold bush"), the propensity for what joe carducci calleth "neo-mofo" style, and how different/not different evabody looked seven yrs 'n' change ago. and blackwell's dancing. and the dancing gurls. some pretty cool shit.
