dang, i know exactly where they're playing at! it's a little performance space above an indian resturant that's literally a 2 minute walk from my 'ole front porch - right down germantown avenue. i just put 2 and 2 together, 'cause i'd always walk past there late night after hopping off the bus and i'd always hear these wild pulsating tribal rhythms coming out of the space above the indian chow pad. i always just assumed it was a dj spinning records at a killer house party, but now i get the deal.

it sucks it's on the 24th cause that's the night of my bachelor party and there's no way i'm gonna be able to make it. dammit! well, i wish 'em the best 'o luck on tour - maybe next time.

still, it's cool to know there's a place to check out some new tunes 'round my way. the only thing even close is this SCARY jamaican disco 'bout 2 more blocks down that has a hand painted wooden sign out front that reads something like:

"anyone thought to have, or found in posession of a gun or rifle inside the premises - the police will be called and blah blah..."

now any place that has to put a disclaimer like that right out front is a place i avoid cause you just KNOW something had to happen there in the past to prompt a warning like that. lotta bars in this town have similar signs too - it's a little freaky. people should know that guns + clubs + alcohol = really bad things happening that result in hand painted warning signs affixed to the door. the music coming outta the disco is ok, but i prefer the less-dancehall based tunes the rastas spin at the summertime block parties out my way. and the food too, my lord! a BIG perk of living in a 'hood with a solid caribbean population is the chow pads. curried goat and me go hand in hand, waltzing off lovingly into the sunset...

steadily learning through understanding - andrew
